‘LTTE not the sole interlocutor of the Tamils’ says leading moderate

Leader of the Tamil moderates V. Anandasangaree says, his party is being sidelined. The President of the TULF has threatened to dissolve the Tamil United Liberation Front if such a situation were to continue.

The TULF is a part of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) one formed before the 2001 Parliamentary elections. The TNA campaigned for the removal of the ban on the Tigers and for talks with them to end the decades-long separatist crisis.

“The TULF is working with LTTE in the Peace process. We have no objection to the LTTE, in fact we are giving our full support to them with regard to the process” said Anandasangaree.

“Yet we do however take exception to being sidelined. The LTTE is not the sole representative of the Tamil people. We are not against the LTTE, but it is only by being independent that our party, the TULF could better serve the Tamil people” he stressed.

Anandasangaree added that because there were several other Tamil political parties represented in Parliament, the Tigers could not be considered the sole representatives of the Tamil people.
