[April 8, 2003 - 7.30 GMT]

Marcus Heiniger of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland told the PRIU today, that they would be willing to host a session of peace talks between the Government of Sri Lanka and the LTTE, if asked.

He even expressed Switzerland’s willingness to take an active role in the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM). This is in line with the decision taken at the last session of talks to strengthen the role of the SLMM.
