President
and Prime Minister discuss current issues

Prime
Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe called on President Kumaratunga at the
President’s House yesterday.
They
had a wide ranging discussion on current national issues in particular the
letter of Anton Balasingham informing the Prime Minister that the LTTE
leadership has decided to suspend its participation in the negotiations for
the time being and will not be attending the donor conference in Japan in
June.
The
question arising from the proposal made by the Head of the Sri Lanka
Monitoring Mission, concerning the recognition of the LTTE’s Sea Tigers as
a Naval unit was also discussed.
Lakshman
Kadirgamar MP advisor to the President was also present at the meeting.
