Dr. Amunugama claims legislators in the dark about interim administration

[July 11, 2003 - 10.00 GMT]

People’s Alliance legislator and spokesman Dr. Sarath Amunugama addressing the media today lamented “Parliament is not aware of the government’s proposed interim administration”. He said it is imperative the government of the day keeps the Head of State and the cabinet fully briefed at all times about issues of national importance.

President Kumaratunga had said on Wednesday when she chaired the weekly cabinet meeting ‘the Cabinet should be informed of all plans for an interim administration, and the proposals that are going to the LTTE’. It is reported Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe had given his assurance this will be done.
