Dyson:
new Sri Lankan cricket coach
[July
15, 2003 - 9.30 GMT]
Sri
Lanka’s new cricket coach John
Dyson said yesterday that Sri Lankan team has a great deal of depth and
talent.
“If
we can work towards maximising that talent and potential, we will do
well,” Dyson said.
The
former Australian Test opener said that Sri Lanka’s biggest strength was
their aggressive style of cricket they play and their biggest weakness was
maintaining consistency of performance. “That’s an area we will
definitely work on,” he said.
Dyson
will officially take over coaching the Sri Lankan team from September 1. His
initial contract is for 20 months. He
replaces his fellow countryman, Dav Whatmore, who has now taken charge of
Bangladesh.
