Vice Foreign Minister due in Colombo

Tetsuro
Yano, Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs in Japan will be in Sri Lanka
on a two-day visit from 3rd to 4th August. Mr. Yano is
a member of the ruling Liberal
Democratic Party (LDP) and a member of the House of Councillors.
During
his short visit to the island, Mr.Yano
will meet with Government leaders and exchange views on the peace process in
Sri Lanka. He is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe,
Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando and Economic Reforms Minister Milinda
Moragoda.
The
Japanese Minister is scheduled to sign an agreement offering Japanese
assistance for the “Matara Water Supply Scheme”. He is also scheduled to
travel to Jaffna where he is expected to make a statement regarding the
peace process in Sri Lanka.
The
Visiting Minister will also witness the historic “Peace Games 2003” at
the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 03.
