Cabinet
approves Land Bill

The
Cabinet chaired by President Chandrika Kumaratunga approved the much-awaited
Land Ownership Bill yesterday.
“This
Bill is one of the most important legislations approved by the Government in
terms of the welfare of the poor,” Cabinet spokesman G.L. Peiris said
Thursday.
The
Bill would give land ownership to some 1.2 million landless people.
