Sri Lanka to host tea meets

[August 13, 2003 - 8.30 GMT]

Sri Lanka is to host two key international meetings this month in a bid to boost global tea sales.

According to an AFP report, the Sri Lanka Tea Board will host the three-day meeting of the UN Food and Agricultural Organization’s inter-governmental group on tea and follow-up with an international exhibition and a broader three-day workshop.

Tea producers as well as buyers are expected to discuss the setting up of an International Tea Foundation for the generic promotion of tea in a bid to make it the “preferred beverage” of the new millennium, states the report.
