Francis-first Sri Lankan to win a swim gold

Conrad Francis became the first ever Sri Lankan swimmer to win a gold medal in an international meet on Sunday in Macao, China.

Francis won the gold in 100 metres butterfly stroke men’s open at the third Asian Age Group Swimming and Diving Championships now in progress in Macao.

An old Josephian, Francis is an experienced swimmer who has represented Sri Lanka in many international events.

Conrad Francis is tipped to do well in today’s 100 metres breaststroke finals too.
