Lankan
leaders condemn Mumbai bomb blast

President
Chandrika Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe yesterday
expressed shock and horror over the twin car bomb attack aimed at innocent
civilians in Mumbai.
Two
car bombs exploded Monday in India’s commercial capital, one was near a
Hindu temple and the other one was near Gateway of India killing at least 55
people and injuring more than 140.

Excellency,
I was
shocked to learn of the car bomb attacks in Mumbai on August 25 and wish to
extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to those
injured.
We
strongly condemn such acts of terror aimed at innocent civilians. We extend
our solidarity to the Government and the people of India in this time of
crisis.
