In Batticaloa, another Army intelligence officer, Pushparasa was admitted to hospital after being shot by suspected LTTE cadres on Saturday, September 13.

Meanwhile, LTTE have reportedly chased away gymnasts who were training for the opening ceremony of the 29th National Sports Festival in Jaffna. This was in protest of Sports Ministry plans to hold the festival in the north.
