The
Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka (BCCSL) converted its governing
body into a corporation on Sunday September 14th. The board will now called ‘Sri
Lanka Cricket’.
“By
renaming the board we are falling in line with the thinking in other boards
and within the International Cricket Council management,” Mohan de Silva,
secretary of the BCCSL said.
The
new name, and logo will be launched officially on September 22, when Ehsan
Mani, ICC’s new president makes a courtesy visit to Sri Lanka.
A
statement issued by the board said, a commercial arm named ‘Sri Lanka
Cricket Incorporated’ has also been set up to look after the business
interests of the game.
“The
board of management of Sri Lanka Cricket Incorporated will still be
responsible to the BCCSL constitution under the new structure,” explained
de Silva. “But the new structure will have significant financial benefits,
such as reductions in taxation and duty.”
