A hospital for pachyderms opens today

Sri Lanka’s first elephant hospital opened at the Uda Walawe National Park today.

The Rs. 3.3 million hospital is completely funded by the Born Free Federation of UK. 

The hospital is affiliated to the Ath Athuru Sevana at Uda Walawe National Park. Stranded and injured baby elephants are cared for at the Ath Athuru Sevana till they can be released into the wild.
