Budget today

Finance Minister K. N. Choksy will present the UNF government’s third budget in parliament today.

He is expected to announce several relief measures, including a substantial salary increase for public servants and fertiliser subsidies to the agriculture sector.

The main opposition, Peoples’ Alliance (PA) has welcomed the proposed salary hike for the public sector and said they are pleased the farming community is also be given the relief they have been persistently demanding both in and out of parliament. 

The parliament re-opened today morning after the prorogation on November 4.
