EU Commissioner due in the island

The European Commissioner for External Relations Christopher Patten will visit Sri Lanka from November 25-26.

Mr. Patten is due to meet with President Chandrika Kumaratunga, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe, Foreign Minister Tyronne Fernando, and Chief peace negotiators Prof. G.L. Peiris and Minister Milinda Moragoda, Minister of Muslim Affairs Rauff Hakeem and representatives of political parties.

He is also scheduled to meet representatives from the private sector and address an audience consisting of members of the diplomatic corps, civil society, academia and the media on “Conflict Resolution: EU experience”.
