Three key Ministries receive unanimous votes

[December 18, 2003 - 10.00 GMT] 

The government and main opposition parties unanimously passed the budgetary allocations for Defence and Interior Ministries that are now under President Kumaratunga.

The Defence vote was passed by a majority of 120 votes while the Interior Ministry voted was passed by a majority of 125 votes.

The PA and the JVP voted for both budgetary allocations along with government MPs. Only the Tamil National Alliance members voted against.

The votes of Ministry of Mass Communication, which is also under the President, were passed without a division.
