FM here to celebrate diplomatic relations

The
State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany
Ms.Kerstin Muller arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday, to attend the celebrations
of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic
relations between the two countries.
During
her four day visit, the German minister will call on the President and the
Prime Minister and other political leaders.
Diplomatic
relations between Sri Lanka and the Federal Republic of Germany were
established in 1953 and the German Legation in Colombo was opened on
December 3, 1953. The Legation in Colombo was later raised to the level of
an Embassy on December 9, 1958 with Dr.T.M.Auer serving as first German
Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
