Japanese
government delegation in Sri Lanka [January

A Japanese economic
cooperation delegation is due in Sri Lanka on Thursday 29th
January. The high profile team is led by Deputy Director-General of Economic
Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan Mr.Motohide
Yoshikawa. The delegation will include other officials from the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The primary purpose of
this mission is to hold intensive dialogue on Japan’s Grant and Technical
Cooperation to Sri Lanka.
The Japanese team will
hold consultations with local representatives of the World Bank, ADB, UNDP,
and Colombo Plan and with heads of missions of major donor countries prior
to conferring with Sri Lankan officials on January 30th.
The Japanese delegation
will also meet with Investment Promotion Minister G.L Peiris and Treasury
Secretary Charitha Ratwatte.
The delegates are also
due to travel to the North during which they will visit Jaffna and
Killinochchi to observe the progress of the rehabilitation programmes
financed by Japan.
