Sri Lankan athletes had won 15 gold medals on the penultimate day of the 10 day South Asian Federation Games which concluded in the Pakistani capital Islamabad today. Yesterday Sri Lanka were placed third with a total medal tally of 103, while India and Pakistan came first and second with 189 medals and 146 medals respectively. The 9th SAF games were held from March 29 to April 7 2004. It was the second such event hosted by Islamabad. Around a thousand seven hundred athletes represented the seven SAARC countries namely, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the current games. Sri Lanka is due to host the 10th SAF Games in Colombo, having previously successfully hosted the games in 1991
