New Prime Ministerial Secretary

President Chandrika Kumaratunga yesterday appointed Lalith Weeratunga as Secretary to the new Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse. 

Mr. Weeratunga a senior officer in the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) has been in public service for over 25 years. He was once Secretary to the late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike. 

He has a MBA and a BSc from the University of Colombo. He is a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow of Pennsylvania State University, USA. Before this appointment Mr.Weeratunga served as the Programme Director in Information & Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka and as a Senior Consultant at the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM).
