President outlines vision for education development

President Chandrika Kumaratunga yesterday met with senior officials of the Education Ministry, the University Grants Commission and Vice Chancellors to discuss the development of education in the country, at President’s House, Colombo.

In her capacity as Minister of Education of the new UPFA government, the President outlined her vision for education development to the educationists. She told them the UPFA placed education on the list of national priorities.

President Kumaratunga also stressed the importance of introducing values and civic consciousness into the school curriculum and co-curricular activities and the need for all relevant officials to be committed and dedicated towards the development of education.
