Five new secretaries appointed to Ministries
[April 30, 2004 - 10.30 GMT]

President Chandrika Kumaratunga appointed five new ministry secretaries on Wednesday under Article 52 (1) of the Constitution.

These senior officials will function as the chief executives of their ministries and will be responsible for all financial and administrative functions. New Ministers of the UPFA and their deputies took oaths on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 before President Chandrika Kumaratunga, at President’s House, Colombo.

2. Mr. N. Bambarawanage - Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources

3. Mr. A. P. A. Gunasekera - Ministry of Cultural Affairs and National Heritages

4. Mr. W. Guruge - Ministry of Small and Rural Industries,
