I am pleased to send out greetings on this day when the followers of Islam in Sri Lanka and across the World celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The universal teachings of Prophet Muhammad preach humanism and compassion, highlighting the path of nonviolence as the better path to peace. On this holy occasion of the Prophet’s birthday let us commit ourselves to strive to conform to his teachings by promoting peace and harmony.

In line with the spirit of his teachings let us lay aside our differences and unite to raise our nation to great heights. I extend my heartiest greetings and good wishes to the followers of Islam in Sri Lanka on this very special day.
