Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar has appointed former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board Renton de Alwis as his Senior Advisor on Tourism and Communications.

The appointment was made in the context of a decision by the Foreign Minister that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should lay particular emphasis on economic diplomacy with a view to using Sri Lankan missions abroad to obtain economic benefits for Sri Lanka.

Renton de Alwis has over 30 years of domestic and international experience in tourism, business and communications management, conservation, human resource development, crisis management and information technology.
