The World Bank yesterday
announced a $64.7 million loan to boost agriculture in Sri Lanka’s North
and East and said the money would help villages move away from subsistence
framing and towards higher production, thereby increasing the standards of
living.
“To sustain the peace
process, it is vital that the people of the North East should be assisted to
rebuild their social networks and livelihoods”, World Bank Country
Director Peter Harrold said in a statement.
