The Cabinet approved investigations into corruption allegations against seven former ministers. Files pertaining to these former ministers have been handed over to the IGP, Cabinet spokesman Mangala Samaraweera said at the weekly media briefing.

The Minister however did not name the politicians involved in these allegations.

Meanwhile Minister Samaraweera said the Government has not taken a final decision on the proposed Anti Conversion Bill as yet. “We would have to study the bill in detail and very carefully before it is approved”, said the Minister responding to a question.

However a draft of the proposed legislation has been sent to the Legal Draughtsman at the request of the Minister of Buddhist Affairs Ratnasiri Wickramanayake.
