Cabinet decisions

Government spokesman Minister Mangala Samaraweera today briefed the media on decisions taken by the Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday September 8. 

  1. A proposal made by President Chandrika Kumaratunga for fully-equipped building in Homagama for the Buddhist and Pali Campus was approved by Cabinet.
     
  1. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse who is also Minister of Highway proposed a flyover in Nugegoda to ease the heavy traffic in the area. The Cabinet approved the proposal and the project is expected to be completed in 2007 at an estimated cost of Rs. 600 Billion.
     
  1. A new building for the Dambulla Divisional Secretariat was approved. It was proposed by Provincial Council Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
     
  1. Minister of Hindu Affairs Douglas Devananda obtained Cabinet approval for 12 Hindu cultural centres in North   East.
