President meets world leaders

President Chandrika Kumaratunga held a reception for the world leaders attending the 59th UN General Assembly in New York, yesterday.

Gabon Foreign Minister, Jean Ping who was the elected President of 59th UNGA, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Christina Rocca and East Timor's Foreign Minister Jose Ramos-Horta were also present at the occasion.

Meanwhile, President Kumaratunga also held talks with the Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi yesterday.

The President is scheduled to meet Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, UNDP Administrator Mal- loch Brown, Norwegian Foreign Minister, Jan Peterson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today.
