The Government of Sri Lanka condemns the murder of Kingsley Rasanayagam, ex-Tamil National Alliance MP for Batticaloa who was shot dead in Batticaloa on Tuesday, states a Government Information Department press release. The continuing campaign of eliminating opponents by killing them is once again a negation of the values of a democratic society permitting a pluralism of views and respecting the human rights of all citizens. The Government of Sri Lanka will continue to make every effort to maintain law and order and bring those responsible to justice.
