B’desh FM invites President to next SAARC Summit

The Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Morshed Khan called on President Chandrika Kumaratunga on Friday, November 12 to invite her for the 13th SAARC Summit January 9-11, 2005 in Dhaka.

As per SAARC tradition the host nation’s Foreign Minister visits the member states to invite the Heads of State to attend the next Summit. In 2005, Bangladesh will take over the chairmanship of SAARC from the present chair, Pakistan.

During the discussions with the visiting Foreign Minister, President Kumaratunga exchanged views on matters relating to SAARC, including the future direction of the Association. 

The 2005 Dhaka Summit would mark 20 years of the existence of the Association.
