President arrives in Tehran

President Chandrika Kumaratunga and her delegation arrived at the Mehrabad International Airport, Tehran in the early hours of this morning. The Presidential delegation was received at the VVIP lounge by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Mohsen Amin Zadeh.

President Mohammad Khatami will receive the President at the Islamic RepublicMansion at 9:30 this morning [1200 noon SL time]. The two Presidents are scheduled to brief the press later in the afternoon, soon after their bilateral discussions.

President Kumaratunga is due to visit Iran’s ‘National Treasure’ a Museum of Jewellery early this afternoon. The President will call on Iran’s Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei this evening.
