Sri Lankans among victims of US Consulate attack

One Sri Lankan was killed and another injured in the attack on the US Consulate in Jeddah yesterday. The deceased Mr. Sadiq had been working on sub-contract at the US Consulate at the time of the attack.

The injured Sri Lankan, Mr. Nirous is under medical treatment in Jeddah and is reported to be out of danger. The US Consulate General in Jeddah has confirmed that other Sri Lankans employed by them are safe.

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah are monitoring developments.

On Monday gunmen attacked the United States consulate, in the Red Sea port, in which up to 12 people were reported dead.
