PM to attend Buddhist Summit

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse will make an official visit to Myanmar over the weekend, where he will attend the closing ceremony of the World Buddhist Summit in the capital Yangon. 

A delegation of senior Sri Lankan Buddhist Monks attended the summit which began yesterday. Prime Minister of Laos and Thailand and Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia are also expected to be in Yangon for the World Buddhist Summit.

Prime Minister Rajapakse will meet with the Leaders of Myanmar   and visit ancient cities of Mandalay, Bagan and the historic Shwedagon Pagoda.      

Sri Lankan Premier will be accompanied by Ms. Rajapakse, several Provincial Councilors and his Secretary Mr.Lalith Weeratunga.
