Sri Lankan hostage released

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today confirmed that Dinesh Rajaratnam, the Sri Lankan truck driver who was held hostage since late October is now free.
Rajaratnam is now with Sri Lankaís envoy to Iraq based in Lebanon Amanul Farooq. He was handed over by Iraqi authorities, who had secured his release and that of a Bangladeshi national also taken hostage at the same time.
The Sri Lankan authorities are making arrangements for Rajaratnamís return to Sri Lanka. The Foreign Ministry has been in constant contact with Rajaratnamís family during his captivity.
