Swiss President conveys sympathy

The President of the Swiss Confederation Mr. Joseph Deiss has written to President Chandrika Kumaratunga expressing his country’s sincere condolences to the families of the victims of Sunday’s Tsunami devastation in the coastal areas.

Full Text of the message:

Excellency,

It is with great sorrow and affliction that I have heard of the terrible tragedy that struck your country, inflicting widespread flooding, and the deaths of many people, as well as massive destruction.

On behalf of the Swiss Federal Council, I extend my sincere condolences to Your Excellency and my heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims.
