The Government of Greece has also dispatched a consignment of relief assistance for people affected by the December 26th tidal waves. On board this vessel will be a team of 70 Doctors and medical specialists. The SS ‘Ocean Monarch’ is owned by the Majestic International Cruises Company. Immediately after the December 26 calamity the Government of Greece, dispatched military aircraft with humanitarian aid. Greece also announced a medium term emergency development aid of 150,000 Euros. Greek NGOs too offered their services to the affected areas of the Southern and Eastern Provinces hit by the tsunami. The
Greek envoy to Sri Lanka Ambassador Efstathios Lozos resident in New Delhi
mooted the idea of this medical facility to assist Sri Lankan victims of the
tsunami.

vessel from the Land of the Acropolis equipped with medical facilities and a
team of medical personnel is due in the Trincomalee Port over the weekend.
