The Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in Sri Lanka on Thursday, February 10 to see what assistance his country could extend for the rebuilding process in the country. This is the first time a Turkish Prime Minister is visiting the island. PM Erdogan will be accompanied by a high-powered delegation including Ministers, Parliamentarians, senior government officials and members of the business community. The Turkish PM is on a tour of countries affected by the Asian tsunami. He is due to lay the foundation stone for a new ‘Model Village’ consisting of five hundred houses, a school, a community centre and a playground at Weligama in the stricken district of Matara. scheduled to call on President Kumaratunga and his Sri Lankan counterpart PM
Rajapakse during his visit.
