Muslim Leaders discuss post tsunami reconstruction with President

President Chandrika Kumaratunga invited a delegation from the Muslim Peace Secretariat for discussions. The President briefed the delegation on the status of the negotiations with the LTTE on establishing a structure for post tsunami reconstruction in the six districts of the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

All members of the delegation of the Muslim Peace Secretariat urged the President to ensure that there would be Muslim representatives at all future negotiations conducted with the LTTE. It was agreed that consultations will continue.

The Muslim Leaders at this discussion were Minister Mrs. Ferial Ashraff Leader of NUA, MP Mr. Rauf Hakeem Leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Mr. Javid Yusuf, Secretary General of the Muslim Peace Secretariat, Mr. A.M. Faaiz, Mr. M.M. Abul Kalam, Mr. M.H.M. Salman, Mr. M.C.Abul Kalam.
