President and Opposition Leader discuss current issues

Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe, Leader of the Opposition held cordial discussions with President Chandrika Kumaratunga today. Several matters were discussed including the establishment of the Tsunami Relief Council (TRC).

The President explained to Mr. Wickremasinghe some details regarding the proposed Council and a few of the issues that have arisen during the past few weeks.

The Leader of the Opposition explained the stance of the UNP on this matter.

The President agreed to keep the Leader of the Opposition and the UNP briefed about the ongoing situation.
