P-TOMS will help tsunami affected people - President

The Students’ and Graduates’ Federations of the SLFP held their convention yesterday at the President’s House. President Chandrika Kumaratunga reassured the audience that the recently concluded P-TOMS agreement would be of immense benefit to the innocent people whose lives were devastated by the tsunami. ‘It is designed to rebuild the lives of the affected and the lands in those areas will not be given to any person or group’, the President emphasized. 

She said today the SLFP was formally taking into its fold the members of the Sri Lanka Students' Federation. 

The Students' Federation presented the President with a special memento in appreciation of her invaluable services to Sri Lanka’s Education Sector and to the Students' Federation in particular.  

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, Minister Anura Bandaranaike and Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and General Secretary of Sri Lanka Freedom Graduates' Association Lal Dissanayake were present at yesterday’s convention.
