Appointments by the President

President Chandrika Kumaratunga has appointed Hon. Minister Rantansiri Wickremanayake to act as Minister of Defence till her return to the island. She has also appointed Hon. Ministers Mangala Samaraweera and Dinesh Gunawardane to act as Ministers of School Education and Higher Education respectively.

Hon. Deputy Ministers Dilan Perera and Lasantha Alagiyawanne will act as the Ministers of Media & Transport respectively, while Deputy Minister D. M. Dassanayake will act as Minister of Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.
