"Peace requires consensus and joint action by the major political parties"- President at NY's Asia Society

President Chandrika Kumaratunga Yesterday [14th September] addressed New York 's Asia Society at its Park Avenue Head Quarters. President Kumaratunga spoke on the theme " For Larger Freedom: Pursuit of Peace in Sri Lanka". 

Yesterday's event was one in a series of featuring celebrated leaders from the Asian region. Addressing a distinguished audience of Sri Lankan expatriates, Asian and American academics and business community, the President said lasting peace requires a broad consensus and joint action between the major political parties and groups in the country.
