Let us dispel injustice and inequality –President
in her Deepawali message
[November 1, 2005 - 4.00 GMT]
I am
indeed happy to greet
today
the
followers of Hinduism in our land and throughout the world. Deepavali
or the festival lights is of great significance, it is an event which
celebrates prosperity which dispels ignorance and cruelty and spreads
the light of wisdom.
Our collective endeavour on this,
one of our National Festivals should be to dispel injustice and
inequality and achieve peace, happiness and prosperity by stabilising
friendship and mutual trust among various communities living in this
country.
Let us on this great day resolve to live in unity, in peace and
friendship while protecting the national, religious and cultural
identities of all our communities which call this country their home.
I
extend my warm greetings to all our Hindu brethren who today celebrate
Deepawali the festival of lights.
