Sangaree condemns LTTE claim on claymore mine attacks
[February 7, 2006 - 4.35 GMT]
Mr. V. Anandasangaree, President of the Tamil United
Liberation Front (TULF) has strongly condemned the LTTE’s claim that the
recent claymore mine and grenade attacks on the Sri Lankan armed forces
were the work of civilians in the North and not by them.
He has challenged anyone from the areas in which the attacks took place
to come forward with any evidence available to prove this claim of the
LTTE, which has brought discredit to the Tamil people.
In a special statement condemning the LTTE claims that these attacks
were carried out by Tamil civilians, Mr. Anandasangaree asks whether
anyone of the 21 Members of Parliament of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA),
representing the Tamils of the North and East, to dare say that
civilians were involved in claymore mine attacks on military personnel.
He has asked the members of the TNA to do a Satyagraha protesting
against this claim of the LTTE and compel the LTTE to withdraw this
ridiculous charge against the Tamil civilians who are undergoing untold
hardship under the LTTEs rule.
The TNA members of parliament hold the view that the LTTE is the sole
representative of the Tamils of Sri Lanka, and are considered proxies of
the LTTE.
