President congratulates Murali

In a letter President Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his appreciation for the contribution made by Muttiah Muralitharan in using his talents and ability to bring credit to Sri Lanka.

Off-spinner Muralitharan is the first Sri Lankan to get 600 test wickets and the second in the world to achieve that feat.

Murali became the first cricketer to get five wicket hauls in 50 innings and 1000 wickets in both test and limited over games. He is the only bowler to get 50 wickets each from every test-playing nation.
