Navy comes under fire
[March 21, 2006-10.45 GMT]
Naval troops on routine patrol have
come under fire according to the
Army. The Naval boat was
nearing two suspicious boats sailing in the restricted sea off the
Trincomalee harbour yesterday when it had been fired upon from a
location in an un-cleared area. The Navy was then compelled to fire back
in self-defence.
No injuries are
reported to naval troops in the incident. The SLMM has been informed
about the incident. This was the third incident of the LTTE firing
towards the Naval troops in the recent past.
