Currency notes with new Finance
Minister’s signature issued [May
22, 2006 - 10.00 GMT]
 The
Central Bank of Sri Lanka will issue the Sri Lanka Heritage Series
shortly with the signatures of the Minister of Finance and Planning
Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
Sunil Mendis.
The currency
denominations are of Rs. 500, 100, 50, 20 and 10 of which the Rs. 100
will be issued immediately.
Dr. Sunil Mendis,
Governor of the Central Bank presented a new Rs.100, note to the Finance
Minister, President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees today.
These notes will be
added to circulation with the existing notes. The notes will be legal
tender in Sri Lanka and a liability of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
