The special inquiry ordered by President Rajapaksa into the alleged incidents reported from Pesalai is now in progress, and its report will be made available to all, said Defence Spokesman, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, at a media briefing today. When asked who was holding the inquiry the Minister said it was being held at a very senior level by a person of the rank of a general in the security forces. The name of the person could not be revealed now due to security reasons, but would be disclosed later. In addition, the Human Rights organization within the Security Forces had also initiated its own inquiry into this alleged incident. On the time frame for the inquiry to be concluded, he said one must understand that even in countries with much more sophisticated methods and capabilities of inquiry, such probes often took even a year or more. Therefore, it would be a gross injustice to expect a speedy report from a thorough inquiry held here. However, he assured that nothing will be hidden and all the information available will be presented to the public, as intended by the President in initiating the inquiry.
