Suspected Tamil rebels attack Sri Lankan navy patrol boats

Sri Lanka - (AP) Two Sri Lankan navy patrol boats have come under attack by Tamil Tiger rebels off the country's west coast, the navy said Wednesday.

Navy spokesman Commander D.K.P. Dassanayake said rebel boats were attacking the naval vessels near Kalpitiya, a fishing area about 140 kilometers (86 miles) northwest of the capital, Colombo.
