Navy detects five suspicious boats [wednesday, July 12, 2006 - 9.00 GMT]

Naval troops on board a Dvora craft on a routine patrolling the seas off Vettalakerni coastal line today (Wednesday) detected five suspicious suspected LTTE boats around 4.30 a.m.

According to the Army website despite early warning alarms, the unidentified boats accelerated their approach towards the naval craft, compelling sailors to fire warning shots, after which the unidentified boats had fled.

No injuries were reported. The SLMM is to be informed of the incident.
